BJ Axthelm Memorial Sale (click here for the selection of pictures for sale)
Betty Jo Axthelm was a multi-talented individual. Beside being an artist in watercolors, oils and acrylics, she was a founding member of the local art club, Artisimos. She was also a quilter, a published author and she instigated the original Hollyfest Arts and Crafts Festival in Ord, NE, bringing many art educators to the area for college level classes. Betty also traveled extensively to pursue her painting subjects and she also participated in both Kearney and Grand Island's Art in The Park activities.
Betty won many art competitions and exhibited her work in galleries across the state of Nebraska. She is best known for her beautiful, ethereal water colors, achieving exquisite transparency and fluidity as she rendered numerous florals and landscapes.
Betty left a legacy of artwork behind which Artisimos art club is exhibiting as a retrospective of her work. All of the pieces are for sale and the proceeds from the sale of her work will go to the Axthelm family. Any of her pieces would be a valued addition to anyone's home or serious art collection. Contact the Main Street Gallery if you are interested in any of the pieces you see here. There are also many more pieces in the gallery that are not pictured here and we hope to keep this site updated with more of her work.
